Chief Scientific Officer (CSO): Gunasekaran (Guna) Kannan, PhD
Guna Kannan is the Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of BraneX Bio, bringing more than 25 years of experience in biologics drug discovery, antibody platform development, and translational research. He has led and contributed to multiple large molecule programs from early target validation through candidate selection, preclinical development, and IND-enabling strategy. Guna held senior scientific roles at Amgen and Denali Therapeutics, where he was responsible for therapeutics discovery, design and optimization, and translational development. His work spanned multiple therapeutic areas including neuroscience, oncology, metabolic disorders, and inflammation, with a focus on advancing biologics from concept to clinical readiness. Guna possesses deep end-to-end expertise across the R&D continuum and has extensive experience working in cross-functional environments and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to advance high-impact therapeutic programs.
Chief Operating Officer (COO): Feng Pan, PhD
With over 20 years of experience in CNS disease biology research and drug discovery as well as R&D management, Feng possesses deep knowledge in the global biopharmaceutical R&D landscape and operational frameworks. He has held key R&D positions at multinational pharmaceutical companies including Eli Lilly and Company and Pfizer, as well as leading domestic pharmaceutical company (Simcere Pharmaceutical). He has a strong understanding of target biology in neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders and has accumulated extensive experience in drug discovery and development. He has demonstrated exceptional capability in R&D team construction, portfolio project initiation and milestone achievements. Leveraging his deep insights into the CNS drug development ecosystem both globally and in China, he will support BraneX Bio in building an efficient R&D operating system and accelerating the advancement of innovative therapeutics from preclinical development to clinical implementation.
